It’s great honor to work with Nice Kicks to make a special combination of our cities — Texas (Bluebonnet) and Beijing (China rose).
In the drawing process, I used both techniques from Chinese and Western — the western oil painting for the ‘Bluebonnet’ and the traditional Chinese fine arts painting for ‘China rose’.
On the each of the tongues, ‘Texas’ is composed in the typeface of Nice Kicks and in Blue and Red (The color of Texas State Flag). “Beijing” is composed in the typeface of ZJ DESIGN and in Yellow (The color of Imperial).
Both the Nice Kicks and ZJ DESIGN logos can be found on the inside of the rear sole and sock liners as well.
In the making process of this custom Faas Mask, all materials come from the newest running shoes — Puma Faas 300 v3. After dissected the upper vamp, remove the foam inside to reduce weight, punching holes for more breathable. Then restructured the different parts together.
Actually, the Faas Mask was composed by 4 component parts — the upper part, the bottom main part, a inserted filter(Effective protection against PM2.5) and a shoe lace. all the parts are designed to connect by the shoe lace, It’s quite fit for both day and night running due to 3M Puma logo, more safety for runners.
Before 10K test run.
I finished the 10K test run (Puma ‘Beijing Run Fesitival’ 2014) for the Faas Mask. This mask was approved.
Creative works change life. Say ‘No’ to PM2.5 (GOV).
I’d like to introduce the 2nd edition of my ‘Flyknit Mask’ project. Compare with the 1st edition, this new mask features lace lock and elastic lock and some new parts in detail. More convenient to replace the filter inside, more breathable and lightweight. It was designed to protect city runners from the harm of air pollution.
Inspired by the air pollution issue which all the city runners must face. I dissected a pair of Nike Flyknit Racer to create out this totally new stuff, people never seen before. I made this conceptive work for protecting city runners, me included.
Pay tribute to Jeff Staple’s great work — The “Pigeon” sneakers since 2005.
This 1 of 1 kind adidas Springblade “Rain Camo” Custom Edition was inspired by jeffstaple’s ‘Rain Camo’ Kia Soul in 2009.
I chose a dark grey and light grey colorway for the “Rain Camo” Springblade highlighting the shape of the shoe with strong hue choices. Transparencies in color make this shoe unique, doing opposite colors on each shoe with the “Staple” and “STPL” logos featured on the vamp and tongue.
Take a look my Oakley Frogskins ‘AJ3′ Custom Edition. Inspired by the classic Air Jordan III.
1 of 1 kind. Handmade.
During these two years, after creating “Year of the Dragon” and “Year of the Snake” editions, this year’s theme is “Year of the Horse”, which was inspired by the war-horse in ancient China.
It incorporates the techniques used in my previous designs, and I also integrated the leather carving technique that I taught myself in 2013. The sneaker showcases the combination of leather carving technique with pyrography.
The leather cover and sneakers are fused together in one. From measuring and drawing the template to leather cutting, from countless carving to hand-sewing every stitch, even oiling the leather and hand coloring over and over again; each step bore a new effort and different emotion.
The leather armor has the Chinese character “Horse” carved on the middle of the toe cap with “Jia Wu” and “2014” on the sides. The Eight Diagrams symbol that corresponds to character “Wu” was set as the stitching form to connect all nine red colored “Herringbone Armor” pieces. The sneaker itself has a shiny gold coat with mane patterns crated by pyrography on both sides of the shoe. The shoelaces and Velcro are used to securely fasten the leather armor and the sneaker together. The “Horse” character and ZJ DESIGN Logo have been carved on both sides of the tongue label; with the ZJ DESIGN Logo square version placed in the insole as well.

The Puma Suede ‘Beijing’ Custom Edition was made for the 860th Anniversary of Beijing City(was found as a capital since the Jin Dynasty since 1153) and the 45th Anniversary of Puma Suede. This pack includes a normal size Suede, a Big Suede (UK45) and a custom New Era Snapbacks.
Beijing is known as the city of “Ne Zha with eight arms”. Base on the tale of Beijing City – “Liu Bowen and the Ne Zha City”. The Chinese characters “Beijing” is designed according the characteristic heavy eaves across the top of buildings of the Forbidden City. The character “Bei“ and “Jing” also represent the structural of Beijing City. The thin line is the moat and the thick line is the city wall. The gaps are the city gates – nine gates for the inner city and seven gates for the outer city.
The Forbidden City was built according the Zi Wei star. The seven stars represent the seven names of Beijing (including six former names Ji, Yanjing, Youzhou, Dadu, Zhongdu, Beiping)
Ne Zha is often depicted flying in the sky with a wheel of fire under each foot, a golden hoop, the “cosmic ring”, a red sash around his shoulder and a spear in his hands. Sometimes he is given multiple arms.
Since Beijing has long been suffered from water shortages and the dragon king is in charge of raining, however, it is desirable to have a deity warrior like Ne Zha to put some constraint on the dragon king, in spite of the many temples to worship the dragon king.
The pattern on the insole means an ancient Chinese geographical thought “Round sky and square earth (Tian Yuan Di Fang)” , its influence the Chinese culture thousands of years. It also represents the the relationship between wells and residences in the City.
The Purple color represents propitious and fortune in the Chinese traditional culture, also represents the Zi Wei star (Bei Dou seven stars). The inner Forbidden City was guided by the Zi Wei star.
The Blue color — the water resource.
The Red color — the red sash of Ne Zha.
The Yellow color — the royalty.
